Arctic Fisherman Blue Fox

The blue phase of an Arctic Fox provides excellent soft hair that's rigid enough to be used as a wing and tail without collapsing. Arctic Fisherman's Blue Fox offers high-quality fibers from the tail of a Blue Fox. Equipped with a soft underfur with near equal length guard hairs, this natural material is an excellent choice for tying streamers and steelhead/salmon flies. This Blue Fox fur is available in a range of colors that make it nice and easy to get any look you're after, and whether you're fishing the salt, a warm river, or some freshly run chrome, this material is sure to enhance the look of your patterns and provide excellent movement in the water.

Uses

Arctic Fisherman's Blue Fox is one of those natural materials that provide a ton of different uses. Most commonly used for tying tails and wings on salmon and steelhead flies, this fur gives excellent movement in the water while also keeping its shape well. However, Blue Fox gives the tier more than just that, as it's an excellent material when used in composite loops or to tie tube flies, and it also works very well when tying streamer bodies, tails, wings, and heads, or for wings on small saltwater crustaceans and flies used for bonefish. And for the saltwater angler who loves to tie Hollow Fleyes, don't discredit this material as an excellent addition in between hollow ties whenever you're trying to add color and/or maximize forward bulk.

Comparisons

A very similar option is Hareline's Arctic Fox Tail Hair; coming from the tail of an Arctic Fox, this material offers excellent motion in the water, and just like Blue Fox, it remains rigid and holds its shape well when in the water. Both of these furs have a soft underfur with long guard hairs, and the main difference is that Blue Fox is just a bit more coarse and tends to be a little shorter in length, so depending on the size of the fly you're tying, one option may be a more suitable fit.
