Drew Chicone's Peyote Palolo Fly

The Palolo worm hatch in the Keys can be a spectacular event--massive tarpon gorging on lively worms everywhere--however, the pressure can be tough, and often what sets failure apart from success is having a fly that works--Drew Chicone's Peyote Palolo is the perfect choice. Masterminded by Chicone, this fly brings realism in its profile, color, and swim and does it all with a short-shank tarpon-ready hook that penetrates their tough mouth and has a shank stout enough to prevent the fly from coming loose during jumps. Starting with a roughly 3" tapered foam tail section, this fly sits just in the surface film like the real McCoy, and to keep the foam from fouling, Drew strategically added a loop of mono underneath. From there, this fly sports an olive Diamond Braid underbody with a trimmed EP Foxy Brush over top. The combination of these materials mimics the Palolo worm's movement and color while adding a seductive sheen when wet.
