Jiggy Caddis Pupa Fly
The Jiggy Caddis Pupa is a heavy fly tied on a jig hook that's designed for Euro nymphing and tight-line nymphing. It's also a great pattern to fish under an indicator or under a foam dry fly. The fly is characterized by an extended body that wraps around to create a rounded pupa-looking tail to imitate the segmented body of a floating Caddis Pupa. The Tungsten bead helps this fly drop down into deep water quickly, and the barbless hook helps anglers release fish with ease. Tied by Umpqua Signature Tyer Mike Mercer, this pattern was inspired by the famous LaFontaine Deep Sparkle Pupa with some key changes to help it fish better. This is a phenomenal trout pattern across the US and around the world in any fishery where Caddisflies are present.
